We may have come across this quote many times in our life but we never understood the real meaning of the lines. Shakespeare has very clearly stated in the lines that it is not the selfie but the substance that really matters in love and thus the Cupids you see in the painting are painted blind.

I came across this online dating application recently which I felt was different from all the dating applications I have seen. “#OkCupid” is the latest sensation in the social platform which clearly signifies the above quote “Substance over Selfies”. I have been hunting down so many dating web sites and applications but none of them stood anywhere near to my expectation. According to my personal observation and opinion 90% of the information provided on the app or web site is fake and thus the person operating whether he or she is fake too. You may never know whether it is Rocky or Roxane you are talking to.

The app takes a huge dig on your likes and dislikes; it tries to judge the person you would like to date using the algorithm which completely works on the basics of your answer given to the questions asked during the profile setup. You just can’t setup an account with few pictures instead you have to run through their radar to complete your profile. The app doesn’t concentrate on the physical appearance it tries to project a complete picture of you through your profile so that the match they provide for you is not just on the basic of your looks instead the match of your profile shows who you really are.

The questions are divided into a few categories such as Lifestyle, dating, religion and ethics. In my personal opinion I found the questions under the lifestyle category witty and interesting. The questions are small and meaning full such as, “Do you like scary movie or which would you rather be normal or weird or could you date someone who was really messy or does drugs”? These questions may sound interesting but these are the main pillars of your profile and the algorithms works according to the answer that has been provided by you. In simple language the application finds out what you are looking for and who could that be with the help of the algorithm and in my sense that is smart.

There are so many dating applications out there but #OkCupid stands out of the herd due to its unique qualities and standard. #OkCupid is not a matrimony app if you have a dilemma, unlike other apps which just aims at finding a person to talk to or marry to the #OkCupid app concentrates on the relationship building matches.
